Andorra Hotels
Andorra is a very small, landlocked county in mainland Europe, bordered by France and Spain and about 600 miles from the UK. Situated within the Pyrenees Mountains it is only 181 square miles in size. Even though it is nestled between France and Spain the main language is Catalan, which is also the main language on the Balearic Islands. In 1900 the population was a meager 5000 but due to the countries popularity this has grown to nearly 90,000 as of 2009. The main religion in the country is Roman Catholic although the North African immigrants have bought with them Muslim ways of life.
Resting at 1023 above sea level, the country of Andorra is famous for its skiing related tourism industry. With several major ski resorts across the country, tourists from neighboring France and Spain are commonplace. Andorra has resisted joining the European Union, so any visitor to the area will no doubt be pleasantly surprised at the duty alcohol and perfumes.
This is another major attraction for the country and also a large revenue generator. Another great reason to visit Andorra is the festival held on September 8th, which is the celebration day of the country patroness, Our Lady of Meritxell, a localized festival which attracts pilgrims from both Spain and France.

Places to visit in Andorra
Here are three suggestions for places to base your visit to Andorra
The Arinsal and Ordino Valleys
In Western Andorra, these beautiful unspoiled valleys are some of the best places for walking in the Pyrenees - there are a number of lovely villages built traditionally in local stone, and a range of excellent scenic trips are possible. Try a visit to the Pal Mountain Park, which has a wide range of outdoor activities, or go duty-free shopping in Andorra La Vella, the capital.
Soldeu
Soldeu is a small village in the Andorran Pyrenees next to the French border. There are wonderful walks along the valley floor, or higher up the mountains for the more adventurous. Soldeu is just the right place for exploring this ancient mountain principality especially along scenic back roads, former smugglers routes.
Pas de la Casa
Pas de la Casa is a purpose-built resort on the French border, at the foot of Andorras largest ski area. The large nursery area is right in the resort centre whilst intermediate skiers will love the wide variety of well-groomed pistes and long cruising runs. Pas also has a deserved reputation for being a snowboarding mecca with unpisted terrain a purpose-built snow park and a half pipe. Pas really comes alive after dark!
