Dalmatia and Dubrovnik
The jewel of Croatias cultural riches, the old city of Dubrovnik is on the sunny Croatian Adriatic Coast. Also on this coast the islands of Korcula, Lastova and Elafiti and their picturesque settlements amongst many other delights. The Old city of Dubrovnik is a World Heritage site and is on a rocky shoreline above the sea, with its medieval stone walls and fortresses.
Central Croatia and Zagreb
Perfect for a city break or as a centre for exploring central Croatia, Zagreb has three parts. Firstly, the thousand year old Gornji-grad, the upper town with the Presidential Palace, the historic church of St Marks, museums and galleries with cobbled streets and gas lamps and then the Donji-grad , the lower town with shops, restaurants theatres and parks and then the modern Novi Zagreb full of high rise buildings.
Slavonia
Situated in the east near the River Danube, lies fertile Slavonia. After Dalmatia, Slavonia is the largest historical regions of Croatia, famous for its plains, oak forests, wine country ancient wine cellars, Baroque palaces and churches. Slavonia has managed to preserve the Croatian folk heritage, with folk costumes, and ornate horse drawn carriages. This is the largest tourist regions after Central Croatia, but still has few visitors, because many of them make their way to the sea, but those who venture to Slovenia will find many delights.
