Denmark Hotels
Located in the Scandinavian region of Northern Europe, the Kingdom of Denmark (its official name), is made up of a large peninsula, Jutland, and many islands. It shares a border with Germany. Denmark may be one of the smallest countries in Europe, with a population of just 5. 5 million, but it has a strong sense of its own identity making it a fascinating place to visit and learn more about. The language spoken is Danish but many people, particularly in the cities and tourist centres, can speak some English.
There are generally no extremes of temperature in Denmark. Expect mild weather in the spring, warm (around 21ºC) in the summer and cool to cold in the autumn and winter with some chance of snow. City break holidays are popular, with Copenhagen, the country's capital, being the first choice destination for many foreign travellers.
Main attractions include the famous Tivoli Gardens, Amalienbourg Palace, and the Little Mermaid statue of Hans Christian Andersen fame. With its happy, stress-free atmosphere, Copenhagen has been labelled the most “liveable” city in the world. The Danes appear to know how to relax and enjoy their way of life, which might have something to do with Denmark having one of the highest standards of living in the world.
Copenhagen is a city with green credentials. Bikes are everywhere and cyclists are well provided for with their own cycle lanes throughout the city. Pedestrians are equally well serviced with broad, safe pavements and crossings making it a good city to explore with children.
Aarhus, Demnark's second city successfully combines the old with the modern and is the unofficial cultural capital of Denmark. It has a progressive feel and like Copenhagen, it is easy to get around to explore its fashionable shops and snug cafes. The sea plays an important part in Danish life and visitors can expect to gain an insight into Denmark's impressive Viking heritage and sea-faring tradition.
5000km of wide, sandy, child-friendly beaches ensures that Denmark also caters well for those looking for a new destination for a seaside holiday. Of course, a visit to Denmark with children wouldn't be complete without a visit to Legoland, located in central Jutland. Denmark is easily accessible, being only a two hour flight from the UK or an overnight ferry crossing from Harwich to Ebsjerg.

Places to visit in Denmark
Here are three suggestions for places to base your visit to Denmark
Copenhagen and surroundings
Copenhagen, founded in 1167 is a wonderful city, and a good centre for visitors. Copenhagen itself has many areas, each with its own interests from the happening Vesterbro to the posh Osterbro with its exclusive shopping to the Norrebro with its restaurants and all have parks and bicycle paths. In and around Copenhagen you can explore and find the famous Little Mermaid, The Amallenborg Palace, and the National Gallery, visit the Viking ship Museum or take a Canal tour.
East Denmark
In the East of Denmark, the region of South Sealand, Lolland, Falster and Mon is one of the most beautiful in the country. There are historical castles and manor houses, and first class bathing beaches such as Ulvshale on the island on Mon, Marielst on Falster and the whole of Lollands Baltic Coast. Make time to see the 75 year old chalk cliffs of Mons Klint, Maribo Lakes Nature Park and the Cliffs of Stevns - a dramatic Zealand landscape
East Jutland
Stay in East Jutlands main city of Arhus - where the city centre is only a short distance away from the beautiful forests and beaches. In the rolling fertile fjord country of East Jutland there is a wooded hinterland stretching to Aarhus populated with picturesque towns, each with a distinct identity. Whether you want to sightsee, relax or take a hiking holiday or shop - youll find something to do in East Jutland.
