Egypt is officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt and is a country located in North Africa. It is approximately 2187 miles from the United Kingdom when flying direct to the country’s capital, Cairo. Countries surrounding Egypt are Israel, Jordan, Sudan and Libya. The different regions are defined as Lower, Middle and Upper Egypt, the Western Desert, Red Sea Coast and Sinai. Egypt is mostly a desert but has the famous Nile River.

The population is approximately 84. 5 million and its major language is Arabic. Egypt is famous for its ancient history with its Pyramids, Temples, Mummies and Hieroglyphs.

The country’s climate does vary and is dependent on whereabouts you are. In general, summer is always dry and very hot and the winters are fairly moderate with rainfall. The Sinai mountains experience snow in the winter along with some other coastal cities such as Baltim and Damietta.

If you wish to travel when it is cooler, do so between November and March. Egypt is also known as being a fairly cheap place to take a holiday. The high season for tourism is usually between December and February and the summer months (between June and August) is actually the low season.
