The Republic of Estonia is located in the north of Europe, in the Baltic region. Countries surrounding Estonia are the Gulf of Finland, Latvia and the Russian Federation and Sweden lies across the Baltic Sea towards the west of the country. Estonia is approximately 1111 miles flying from the United Kingdom to the country’s capital, Tallinn. The country’s population is only 1. 3 million and the major languages spoken are Estonian and Russian.

Estonia is very flat in the north of the country but towards the south becomes rather hilly. Estonia for some time was classed as a “best kept secret” in Europe, however, it has now gained immense popularity and is now a destination that travelers and holiday-makers are keen to visit especially if they are looking for a culture that is cosmopolitan, vibrant, exciting and extremely historical with its many beautiful towns and villages. Although a small country, it is divided into fifteen number counties with over 1500 islands which are virtually untouched.

The capital city, Tallinn, is also very beautiful and another popular tourist destination. Many people who prefer a seaside town tend to visit Haapsalu for example. The climate is maritime where the summers are generally cool with wet winters, although not terribly cold, more moderate.
