Indonesia Hotels

The South East Asian archipelago of Indonesia includes over 17,000 islands, 6000 of which are inhabited and straddles the equator over 5000 kilometres across the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world with nearly 250 million people and its islands offer a variety of landscapes. Most tourists will head to the beautiful and traveller-friendly island of Bali which is a unique blend of stunning landscapes with rice terraces, fragrant flora and surf beaches and a friendly, welcoming people with a fascinating Hindu culture, rich in temple ceremonies and traditional dance. The island of Java is home to Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta and the popular tourist destination of Yogyakarta thanks to the famed Borobudur and Prambanan temples. In East Java, the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park is home to the still-active volcano Mount Semeru and provides quite a desolate, other-worldly, volcanic landscape.

Borneo (Kalimantan), Sumatra, and Papua encompass some amazing jungles, forests, mountains, volcanoes and endangered wildlife species such as the Orangutan and offers a real off the beaten track adventure. Other destinations include the surfer and backpacker paradise of Lombok and the Gili Islands; excellent scuba diving at Bunaken, North Sulawesi and the Komodo National Park, Flores Island.
