Mexico Hotels
Located in North America, Mexico is a Latin American country bordered to the north by the United States and by Belize and Guatemala to the south. The Gulf of Mexico lies to the east of the country and the North Pacific Ocean to the west. It is a huge country with a population of over 110 million. The main language is Spanish. If you're feeling adventurous, then Mexico is a country worth discovering.
It is a land of sharp contrasts offering visitors many surprises if they are prepared to explore. Of course there are the beach hotspots such as Cancun or the island of Cozumel on the Caribbean coast where you can relax on sun-drenched white sandy beaches with lush green palms swaying overhead. The coast is edged with stunning coral reefs, a haven for divers and snorkellers.
At night Mexican resorts come alive with music and partying till dawn. The east coast is the place to head if you're into surfing. Resorts like Acapulco are also famous for their nightlife.
If it's culture you're after, then look no further, for Mexico is steeped in history, from ancient Mayan ruins to Baroque churches. Some areas, like San Juan Chamula near San Cristobal, appear to remain untouched by modern civilisation. Even a tour around one of the many sleepy little fishing villages will make you feel like you've stepped back in time.
The natural world is full of wonders too; lush tropical forests, ocean-front lowlands, high plateaux, mountain chains to the east and west and huge rivers. Eco-reserves are dotted throughout the country where tourists can admire the abundance of wildlife. All-inclusive package deals are popular choice for holidaymakers heading for the beach resorts, but some tour operators offer multi-activity, trekking and cultural packages.
Flight times from London to Mexico City are 11 hours 40 minutes, from London to Cancun 11 hours.
