Philippines Hotels
The Philippines is one of the largest archipelagos in the world consisting of over 7000 islands, located in South East Asia inbetween the South China Sea and the Philippine Sea. It sits to the East of Vietnam but is often not considered by travellers exploring South East Asia, which means that once you have left Manila, the Capital city, main travel hub and one of the most densely populated cities in the world – it very much feels off the beaten track and can be significantly cheaper than neighbouring countries. The Philippines is home to truly wonderful natural sights, with miles of beautiful beaches such as those at Boracay, El Nido and Pagudpud; stunning coral reefs at Tubbataha Reefs National Park and some of the best diving in the world at Coron and Puerto Galera. Its landscape away from the sea is also worth exploring including the amazing Banaue Rice Terraces at Ifugao, the Chocolate Hills of Bohol and the Spanish Colonial town of Vigan. There are also a wealth of religious and historical sites too with Intramuros – the old town and historic centre - in Manila being a fascinating place to start.
The Philippines has over 100 different ethnic groups with a population reaching 100 million so the people, art, food and culture of the country are a vibrant and quite unique mix of Western and Eastern influences ranging from Spanish Colonial history to Chinese and are a welcoming nation, despite its economic problems.

Places to visit in Philippines
Here are three suggestions for places to base your visit to the Philippines
Laguna, Resort Province
Conveniently fairly near to Manila, Laguna is full of bodies of water - hot springs, lakes and waterfalls - especially the Pagsanjan Falls the "Shooting rapids" found in Cavinti. The mountain breeze blowing from the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges make the lake ideal for aqua sports - wind surfing, water skiing, sailing - and game fishing. The province is also ideal for hikers and walkers -try a trip to Dalitiwan River in Botocan, Majaviav - an exciting adventure with rugged terrain and lively rushing rivers. More eco-tourism in Mount Makiling in Los Banos -an extinct volcano - where bird and butterfly watching attracts nature lovers and trekkers. Also find the restored Romanesque and Baroque churches within the province.
Choose a Beach Holiday
With over 7000 islands, the Philippines has a lot of coastline twice that of the length of the USA, and can claim to be Asias Beach Capital. Enjoy the warm blue waters of the China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Number one Beach Resort is Boracay in Western Visayas - active and lively, then Pagudpud in the north for surfing, Or Mactan Island tropical getaway - beaches, hotels, nightlife, or Diving on Panglao or Honda Bay or El Nido (with its cliffs of sea birds) the list is much, much longer/ And what a choice!
Ilocos Sur - Heritage Village
ILocos Sur is the province where the mixtures of culture form a living museum. There is a national shrine, heritage museums, ancestral houses, period houses and cobbled streets can all be found here. The Historic Town of Vigan, established in the 16th Century is in the World Heritage List as the best-preserved colonial town in Asia. Its architecture brings together elements from the Philippines, from China together with those from Europe. It shows a mixture of heritage absolutely unlike any other place.
