Poland Hotels
Lying in the heart of Europe, with a northern coastline, Poland has been fought over, invaded and influenced over the centuries; it now emerges as a strong nation where people can take pride in their independence. It isn’t over-populated, with 120 people per square kilometre. Poland, despite its difficulties, has managed to conserve much of its history, cultural wealth and traditions. Emerging from behind the old ‘Iron Curtain’ in the late 80s, the new government of the day applied a shock therapy which booted the country into the western world at astonishing speed - a process that included important cultural elements such as freedom of speech and human rights as well as close alliances with Europe. Poland has a variety of landscapes from coastal plains and river valleys to desert, hills and lake districts, and mountain ranges.
Almost 30% of its territory is forested and there are very many protected areas with important protected species no longer found elsewhere in Europe. For bird watchers, Poland has areas that are breeding destinations for many migrants. In the main, tourists travel to its major cities like Warsaw and Krakow, and also to revisit and remember some of the saddest history of recent years, encapsulated in Auschwitz.
However, more are discovering the beautiful lake districts and their wildlife.

Places to visit in Poland
Here are three suggestions for places to base your visit to Poland
Kracow and surroundings
Kracow is a beautiful city with a rich history. The beautiful and mysterious Old Town will charm you whilst the art galleries, 19th century Viennese-style cafes, pubs and restaurants in the Kazimierz are all waiting for you. See one of the biggest market squares in Europe, and visit the 14th C Cloth Hall with the large collection of Polish Paintings and craft stalls, or St Marys Church dating from 1221 - the list of things to see and do is very long! Dont forget to visit the Wieliczka Salt mine, which has a full, scale chapel sculpted in salt. Or why not try Krakow for a base of a winter holiday - seeing the sights of Kracow and winter activities and skiing in Wisla in the Beskiddy Mountains.
A Spa Holiday in Poland
There are a number of high quality spas on the Baltic Coast. Try the resort town of Sopoi, about 10 km from Gdansk, which offers Spa Hotals and treatments. As a seaside resort Sopoi also has beaches, pubs and restaurant as well as beautiful forests.
Warsaw and surroundings
Warsaw is a city where western and eastern cultures meet. Many historic buildings destroyed during the war have been reconstructed, but some scars still remain. The splendid Old Town has a Market Square and St Johns Cathedral. Try a taxi drive along the Royal route and see the monuments and historic buildings. Visit Lazienki Park - one of the most beautiful in Europe has the rebuilt "The Palace on the Water". Just outside wee the "Little Versailles" of the summer residents of King Jan Sobieski with exhibitions from the 17th century.
