The Caribbean island of Puerto Rico is a country by way of “Self-governing territory belonging to the United States of America”. It is located north east of the Caribbean Sea and is surrounded by the Dominican Republic, the British Virgin Islands and the United States Virgin Islands. Spanish is the main language in Puerto Rico, however, English is also their official language.

San Juan - The Capital

High season is from December to April when northern tourists fly south to the sun. Explore the atmospheric historic walled old colonial city with its renovated buildings and the cobbled streets. To stay in San Juan, which is situated close to beautiful beaches, is to get the best of both worlds. Tourists mainly focus on Old San Juan, where the majority of the shops, restaurants, entertainments are, as well as being close to the beaches - visit Condado Beach in San Juan.

Ponce

Ponce is a delightful city situated a few miles inland of Puerto Ricos south coast. Full of Spanish well-preserved colonial heritage neo-classical architecture, some dating from the 17th Century and well preserved, you will enjoy the ambience of the attractive homes, churches and the fountained plazas. Visit the nearby white sand of the Playa de Ponce, and look forward to snorkelling. Walk along the beachfront promenade and enjoy the boardwalks, bars and souvenir shops as well as the restaurants and enjoy watching the small boats and hundreds of yachts.

Rincon - "Pueblo del Surfing"

Rincon, also known as "El Pueblo de los Bellos Atardeceres" (The town of Beautiful Sunsets) is in the Western Coastal Valley of Puerto Rico, west of Anasco and Aguada. It lies between the La Cadena Mountains and a number of beaches which face the Atlantic Coast to the north and the Caribbean to the south. The reef-lined Atlantic beaches have become a winter centre of skilled surfers for over 20 years. There are hotels and surfing shops in this attractive town and youll see mangos growing everywhere. In the winter endangered humpback whales visit the area, and there is an observation park for watching them. Also see the Punta Higuero Lighthouse built by the Spaniards in the 19th Century.
