Romania Hotels
Romania in Eastern Europe is one of the Balkan states, located on the Black Sea coast and neighbouring countries include Bulgaria and Moldova. It is perhaps most famous for being the birthplace of Count Dracula but it is its diverse natural landscape which is its greatest attraction. The Danube Delta is recognised by UNESCO as having one of the world’s most biologically diverse areas and its Carpathian Mountains offer stunning opportunities for skiing, hiking and mountain biking. The Black Sea resorts offer unique natural spa rejuvenation breaks, whilst its castles, fortresses and painted monasteries help bring Romania’s rich medieval legacy to life. Central Romania is home to the region of Transylvania, and Dracula tourist attractions aside, is also home to a number of beautiful medieval towns including Sighisoara, Brasov and Sibiu – which was the European Capital of Culture in 2007 due to it having some of the best-preserved historical sites in Romania, a wide variety of museums and exhibitions, and the nearby breathtakingly beautiful Fagaras mountains.
Transylvania’s largest town is Cluj-Napoca which houses one of the largest universities in Europe and is a buzzing, lively and youthful place. The vibrant, bustling capital city of Bucharest is a fascinating mix of Communist-era monuments and wide, tree-lined boulevards with beautiful Belle Epoque buildings and cobbled medieval streets. Romania’s second city, Iasi, is a major cultural and economic hub, whilst Timisoara in the west of the country, is widely deemed to be Romania’s most cosmopolitan city with a hugely attractive mix of architecture, culture and nightlife.
