Thailand Hotels

Thailand, in Southeast Asia, is one of the region’s most popular tourist destinations and offers something for every type of visitor, from luxury beach resorts to cheap backpacker hostels and it’s landscape is an intoxicating mix of tropical jungles, stunning white beaches, mountain ranges and cultural sites. The capital city, Bangkok is a heady, vibrant, buzzing mix of East and West with its burgeoning skyscrapers, malls and high-rise apartment blocks, stifling traffic and infamous nightlife. However, it is also one of the region’s most cosmopolitan cities with a wealth of historical attractions, palaces, temples, street markets and top-class restaurants. Within easy reach of Bangkok are the beaches and islands of Eastern Thailand such as Ko Chang, Ko Samet and Pattaya (though do be warned that the sex industry is still dominant in Pattaya, despite attempts to provide more family-friendly attractions). Thailands most famous beach resorts are located in the South, including Ko Samui, Phuket, Ko Tao and Krabi, whilst the North is home to some lush, green countryside and the city of Chiang Mai which is well worth a trip to explore some real Thai culture with gardens, temples, museums and great northern Thai food – all at a more relaxed pace than in the capital.

The North-Eastern region of Isaan and the countryside around the Mekong Valley is a world away from the beaches of the south and though the poorest area of the country, its lush scenery and Khmer ruins offer a welcome opportunity to truly explore off the beaten track.
