Bremen Hotels Germany
When they say ‘good things coming in small packages’ they were talking about Bremen! Located in northwest Germany, it is a city that is compact and easy to become acquainted with in a weekend. Although the city is quite small, it boasts the second largest harbour in Germany. A commercial and industrial city, Bremen is part of the Bremen-Oldenburg metropolitan area with a population if 550,000 residents. When describing Bremen you may like to think of it as two towns. It consists of a pair of distinct plots of land: Bremerhaven at the Weser River’s mouth, and riverside Bremen, 65km south.
Bremen puts itself on the map as the lively and versatile epicentre of North West Germany. Home to many famous world musicians, it is a popular and innovative hub of heritage, science and technology. This 1,200 year old city has a unique quality that ensures a metropolitan city experience like no other.
Amongst the most popular tourist attractions of this region are the scenic Harz Mountains, the old student town of Gottingen and the picturesque towns along the aptly named Fairy Tale road. When in the city itself there are many things to see around Am Markt such as the Rathaus; the cathedral St Petri Dom and the large statue of Roland. If Am Markt is the heart of the city, then the port is it’s soul.
Bremen's seafaring traditions are still very much a part of the lifestyle today and contribute to it’s unique appeal. The Schlachte Embankment along the River Weser is a hub for locals and tourists, especially when the sun is shining. The waterfront setting provides departure locations for many exciting boat trips and day cruises.
Take a walk to The Schnoor, the oldest district in Bremen, and visit the unusual buildings along delightful Böttcherstrasse. You will witness a re-creation of a medievil alley, complete with tall brick houses, shops, restaurants and museums (the Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum, and the Museum im Roselius-Haus). Lastly no sightseeing tour can be completed without a visit to the Town Musicians statue in the Market Square featuring the donkey, dog, cat and rooster from the Brothers Grimm fairytale.
For budget accommodation look for the Jugengastehaus Bremen which is located across from Beck's brewery, or Hotel Garni Gastehaus Walter which offers friendly service and pleasant rooms. For even more basic accommodation the Hotel-Pension Weidmann may be what you are looking for. If you are able to search the internet you may be able to find some accommodation packages.
Hotel Deutsche Eiche, Hotel Horner Eiche and Schulschiff Deutschland are all 3 stars and offer competitive packages.
