Centre Hotels France

Centre Centre is the fourth largest of France’s 26 regions just to the northwest of the centre of France, around the Loire Valley. It shares border with several other French regions: Haute-Normandie and Ile-de-France to the north, Bourgogne to the east, Auvergne to the southeast, Limousin to the south, Poitou-Charentes to the southwest, Pays de la Loire to the west and Basse-Normandie to the northwest. The terrain of Centre has been shaped by the Loire, the longest French river, and its landscape is comprised of plateaus and plains of different origins. Champagne berrichonne and Touraine are plateaus: the former a chalky plateau in the southeast, and the latter a clay plateau in the southwest. The Brenne area in the Department of Indre is known for the lakes and ponds, and Beauce is a fertile farmland, whilst Sologne is a heavily forested area.

The capital of the Centre region is Orleans (famous for Saint Joan of Arc), but there are other historic cities such as Blois, Bourges, Chartres (with its famous cathedral) Chateauroux and Tours, the largest city. Centre Val-de-Loire is famous for its Renaissance chateaux that line the river Loire and tributaries, many of them restored to former glory, and their gardens, some historical museums in themselves have given this area the title of the Garden of France.
