Chongqing Shi Hotels China

Chongqing Shi is a region in the south west of China. Chongqing is situated on the periphery of the Yungui Plateau and has the Dalou Mountain to the south and Daba Shan in the north. There are a number of tourist attractions in this region. A three hour journey west of the city will take you to see the Dazu Rock carvings. These are Chinese carvings and sculptures with religious significance.

They have been named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and they date from the 7th century AD. The carvings can be found in 75 protected sites. The Flying Tiger museum includes lots of artefacts and photographs about this group who worked with the Chinese air force during World War Two.

The flying tigers were the first American volunteer group. Eling Park, known as Courteous Park, is one of the earliest private gardens dating from 1909. It is built between the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers and offers amazing views over the city.

Whilst in the park view the wide variety of plants, the intricate stone bridge with carvings and the lake with its abundance of fish. Another good excursion is to the Fengdu Ghost Town on the banks of the Yangtze River. You travel to the ghost town by ferry from Fengdu.

For a real adventure travel in style on the Yangtze River as you embark on a scenic cruise. You will travel through the Three Gorges Dam. Shopaholics won’t be disappointed as within the city centre there are a range of shopping outlets.

Jiefangbei is the central business district. Chaotiannen Market is the largest market in the region but be prepared to haggle to get a good deal. There are many choices of hotels in this province that will suit a variety of budgets.

There are budget hotels such as Super 8 motel and Motel 168 which offers basic 2 star accommodations but provide good value for money. Mid-range hotels include Holiday Inn in North Chongqing and Yangtze Island. A luxury option would be JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing which is a 5 star highly recommended hotel.

Carlton Hotel is another 5 star luxury hotel just outside the central area of Chongqing.
