Connecticut Hotels United States
Known as the “Constitution State, Connecticut is on America’s east coast in New England. It is south of Massachusetts, east of New York and west of Rhode Island. The Connecticut River cuts right through its centre and its home to three and a half million people. Connecticut has been home to famous Yale University for three centuries and some of the earliest settlers were English, back in the 1630’s. Connecticut’s famous towns are all worth a visit.
They are Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, Danbury and New Britain. Also back in the 1950’s the Electric Boat shipyards built the world's first nuclear submarine in Connecticut - the USS Nautilus. You’ll enjoy a great climate in Connecticut, which is really close to the excitement of New York.
If you like the outdoor life of adventure or you’re a culture vulture, you can have it all and enjoy a journey through Colonial times. George W Bush the former American President was born in Connecticut, as was American Author Mark Twain, Gene Pitney and Meryl Streep. You have to take in the national, historic landmark Mark Twain House in Hartford, built in 1874.
There’s the Black Rock State Park – great for swimming, camping and hiking trails, and be sure to visit the Old State House of Connecticut. The beautifully restored gracious architecture symbolises the past, present and the future. Be sure also, to drop in at the Mattatuck Museum of Arts and Crafts in Waterbury and enjoy French Impressionist paintings at the Hill Stead Museum in Farmington.
Outside, the southeastern shoreline offers amazing coastal towns. Explore the two mile Hammonasset Beach State Park and, on the way, stop off at the Nathan Hale Homestead - a farmhouse dating back to 1776 and dedicated to Connecticut’s hero. The kids will love America’s oldest amusement park – the Lake Compounce Theme Park, which has it all.
Eat out in New Haven at the Kitchen Table or at Max Downtown in Hartford. You can take the family and camp at Hammonasset Beach State Park or at Totoket Valley RV P, in New Haven. The Holiday Inn Express Downtown in Hartford is reliable or you’ll get great views from the Hotels and Motels in Old Greenwich, Connecticut: loads of choice for every wallet.
