England Hotels United Kingdom
The Region’s green and pleasant land plus a sprinkling of bustling cities make England (part of the Great Britain) the perfect holiday destination. England is a region made up of the central and southern parts of Great Britain. There are also small islands just off the southern coast which are also part of England. These islands are the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Scilly. England is bordered to the north by Scotland and to the west by Wales.
The climate in England is regarded as not too extreme in either the summer or the winter. Temperatures are generally not expected to dip below zero degrees Celsius in the winter or above ninety degrees Celsius in the summer. Rainfall should be expected at any point during the year.
England’s history is drenched with fascinating tales and these are made all the more enchanting with the vast variety of historical sites that still exist today. Hadrian’s Wall has stood since the Roman times and gives visitors an insight into the architecture and design of the times. In the South East of England you can visit ‘Dragon’s Hill’, it is said that this is where St George (patron saint of England) slayed a dragon.
The Sutton Hoo can be found in the South East of England and is a perfect example of Anglo Saxon times; it is a burial ground of the Kings. There are lots of National Parks in England; some that are well worth a visit are the parks at Exmoor, Dartmoor, the New Forest and the Peak District. Lots of the parks offer cycling/walking excursions.
There are many cities in England each with their own unique style and attractions. Liverpool was voted the European Capital of Culture in 2008. Brighton is a very popular place to visit in England; you can travel to Brighton from England’s capital London in under an hour.
The capital of England is London and it is highly recommended you try to visit while in England. There is so much to see in London, from Buckingham Palace to the London Eye and Ben Big to the many historical houses throughout the area London is a truly fantastic place to be.
