Fujian Hotels China
The Fujian Province is on China's south-eastern coast facing the island of Taiwan to the east. The neighbouring provinces are Zhejiang to the north, Jiangxi to the west, and Guangdong to the south. The less well known province of Fujian has a rich history and many famous historical sites to see, such as the beautiful Gulangyu Island, where only electric-powered vehicles are permitted, so the environment is free from noise and pollution. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) the island was also called 'Yuanshazhou Island' while its current name comes from the huge reef surrounding it as when the waves pound the reef it sounds like a drum and Gu in Chinese means 'drum’, while Lang, means 'waves'. The Island is situated near the major tourist city in the region, Xiamen, which has an abundance of tourist attractions, including temples and parks.
Alternatively take a trip to the historical Earth Towers of the Hakka which were created a thousand years ago by the Hakka clan, who migrated and settled in the Yongding area and built the towers to protect themselves against bandits and wild beasts. The towers were built using local materials forming tall circular earthen structures to house a whole family. The Fujian province is also home to the largest Buddhist temple, known as The Kaiyuan Temple, it has been restored and is fantastically grand despite its age, built in 686 (during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian), it is located on West Street in Quanzhou City.
It has a fairly complete set of courtyard galleries to walk through and enjoy. Fujian is also famous for Oolong tea, so if you visit this province you must taste this mellow tea. The capital city of Fujian is Fuzhou; situated in the eastern part of the province it’s named after a mountain situated in the north called Mt.
Fu. It offers great walking and golfing tours for tourists visiting the area. The province has varied accommodation to offer, but to give you a few ideas why not try the 4 star Fuzhou Hotel, situated in the heart of city, or if looking to stay near the Kaiyuan Temple try the 5 star Quanzhou Hotel, situated between the mountains and the sea; it is well placed for sightseeing in the local area.
For a stay in Xiamen near the Gulangyu Island, try the 3 star Kingty Hotel as the hotel is well placed to tour the area.
