Gunma-ken Hotels Japan
Gunma – Ken (or Gunma Prefecture) is a landlocked administrative area in the Northwest of the Kanto region on Honshu Island, Japan. The area’s capital is the city of Maebashi. Gunma is a predominately mountainous region and is a popular tourist area with those looking for outdoor activities and great views. The resort of Kusatsu takes advantage of the natural hot springs and is the home to displays of Yubatake, which involves water being splashed with large wooded paddles. The town of Tomioka is famous for its silk factory but is also the home of the popular Gunma Safari Park.
Other visitor attractions include the Yubatake – a spectacular waterfall offering great photo opportunities. On the top of Mount Shirane is a lake called Yugama. This is a popular sightseeing place but beware as the lake has the highest acidity of any in the world! There is plenty of good accommodation in the Gunma Prefecture.
For a good central base to explore the capital, the Comfort Inn, Maebashi is well reviewed and convenient for shops and nightlife. Elsewhere, in Takasaki, the Holiday Dou offers good budget accommodation with friendly staff and good food. Convenient for the safari park at Tomioka is the Hotel Amuse Tomioka.
