Hamburg Hotels Germany

Resting on the Elbe River is Germany’s second largest city, Hamburg, also known as ‘green city’ due to its one thousand four hundred parks and gardens. Considering that the city has a vast network of canals that have been said to compete with that of Venice, it might as well be known as the ‘watery city’. Hamburg is famous for its art galleries, museums, diverse architecture, classy shopping and magnificent restaurants and nightclubs, so it truly is a great holiday destination overall. Some of the main attractions are the notorious Reeperbahn, Hamburg’s red light district; the Museum of Hamburg History, Hamburg Kunsthalle, the city’s premier art gallery, and St Michaelis Church. These are just some of the historical sites to be seen, amongst the other baroque and renaissance style architectures in between the more modern buildings around the area.

Once you’ve explored the many wonders of the town, visit one of the many gardens, namely the Planten un Blomen, situated in the middle of Hamburg, with fountains, Japanese gardens and a teahouse; take the children along for pony rides, putt putt and ice skating. There are a number of concerts and performances held in Hamburg each year, such as the upcoming Ballet Days, Ice World and Alster Fair, Hamburg’s biggest summer festival music, theatre, food, drink, crafts and even sporting events, all taking place in 2011. If you’re after a lively vibe without date restrictions, then why not head out to the Altona Fish Market, held every Sunday morning and has everything and anything you could think of on sale in an upbeat atmosphere, there is even live music and a restaurant in the historic fish auction hall.

And if the fresh fish doesn’t tempt you at the market, then dine at one of the many restaurants in the area, such as Schauermann, a chic restaurant serving New German cuisine. Hamburg truly has it all in entertainment, and is even an entrance to seaside resorts of the Baltic and North Sea coastline if you decide to take a day tour a little further out of town. For accommodation, Hamburg again has it all; with 5 star SIDE, with rooftop terrace, spa and steak restaurant, the 4 star Hamburg Marriot Hotel, offering modern spa, traditional food and access to the exclusive Gansemarkt shopping area.

There are also a number of 3 star options to choose from for a comfortable and delightful stay, such as Hotel Continental Novum and Hotel Kronprinz Novum.
