Himachal Pradesh Hotels India

Himachal Pradesh is a region in Northern India that comprises 12 separate districts. Originally this region had the name Dev Bhumi which translates as the ‘Abode of Gods’ and it is a beautiful area full of picturesque natural scenery. It is also home to a large number of animals. In fact there are over 359 different animal species in this region such as the snow leopard, ghoral, leopard and western tragopan (a pheasant that is an endangered species). There are 12 national parks and sanctuaries in the region of Himachal Pradesh which is the most in the whole Himalayan region.

In the Kullu area the Great Himalayan National Park was opened to help sustain the flora and fauna of the Himalayan mountain range. The state capital of the region is Shimla and it is over 226 miles away from New Delhi which is the national capital. Shimla is home to the only natural ice skating rink in the whole of Asia and the Shimla State Museum.

The Mall is the main shopping area in the city and a popular meeting place for tourists and locals alike. The second oldest church in Northern India can also be found in Shimla. Christ Church was consecrated in 1857 and remains a popular place for pilgrimage today.

Jakhu Hill has the highest peak at 8,000 ft and provides a superb and breathtaking aerial view. The Kalka-Shimla railway line has over 806 bridges and 103 tunnels. It is now classed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an amazing feat of engineering considering it was built in 1906.

The railway’s construction enabled more people to explore the region. Tatta Pani is about 34 miles from Shimla city and is home to hot sulphur springs that claim to have medicinal properties on the river Satluj. You can find a range of accommodation in Shimla and the surrounding areas.

Budget accommodation in Shimla includes Sunrise Villa and Hotel Landmark. Mid-range includes Holiday Inn Manali and WelcomHeritage Solang Valley Resort. The 5 star Oberoi Cecil in Shimla is a first class luxury hotel nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Try also Wildflower Hall which is another 5 star property with a fairytale location.
