The capital of the prefecture is Mito and other cities in the region include Hitachi, Kashima, Koga and Yuki. The area is home to the Kairakuen Park which is a stunning Japanese garden located in Mito, Mount Tsukuba which is famous for its double or twin peaks and the Kashima Shrine which is located in Kasima. The prefecture also has a number of excellent railroads which offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape, there is the J?ban Line, Mito Line and the Kasima Line to name but a few.

Hotels in the capital include the Mito Plaza Hotel, Daiwa Roynet Hotel Mito and the Mito Prince Hotel all of which sit at the higher end of the scale, for budget accommodation there is the Hotel Sealuck Pal Mito, Hotel Steno and the Hotel Mets Mito.
