Iowa Hotels United States
Iowa is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. The state has borders with Wisconsin and Illinois to the east, Nebraska and South Dakota to the west with Minnesota in the north and Missouri in the south. The capital is Des Moines with other major cities such as Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Iowa City, Davenport and Waterloo. Iowa is generally flat with some rolling hills; it has some natural lakes such as Spirit Lake, Clear Lake and Lake Red Rock. The rivers which either run through or border the state include the Mississippi, the Missouri and the Bib Sioux River.
The climate here is classified as humid continental and has extremes of temperature at each end of the scale. In the spring the state is hit with numerous thunderstorms and tornados are common with an average of 37 per year. Summers here are hot and humid with temperatures averaging around 32 degrees with winter temperatures easily dropping below zero and in some cases reach as low as -18 degrees.
Some of the facts that make this state famous are as follows, John Wayne was born in Winterset, it is home to the world’s highest double track rail ridge in Boone and it is the only state that has two borders that are water and not land mass. Attractions in the capital include Adventureland which is a water and amusement theme park, Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines Art Centre, the Iowa Hall of Fame and the Des Moines Botanical Gardens. Cedar Rapids has the following to offer, the Science Station and McLeod/Busse IMAX Dome Theatre, Indian Creek Nature Centre, St.
Pauls United Methodist Church and African American Historical Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa. Sioux City has the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Centre, Trinity Heights, Argosy Casino and the Chief War Eagle Monument. Iowa City attractions include the Devonian Fossil Gorge, the Iowa Avenue Literary Walk and the Museum of Natural History.
Waterloo has the Lost Island Water Park while Davenport has Fejervary Park and Zoo. Accommodation in Iowa includes the Motel 6 in Iowa City, the Howard Johnson at Cedar Rapids, the Days Inn at Walnut Creek in Des Moines and the Fairfield Inn at Sioux City. Three star hotels are as follows, the Residence Inn Des Moines West at Jordan Creek Town Centre in Des Moines, Ramada City Centre in Sioux City, Clarion Highlander Hotel and Conference Centre in Iowa City and the Fairfield Inn at Davenport.
