A major Global player, Japan has the world's third-largest economy. Many tourist visit Japan, amongst the mix of forestry, mountains, rural and metropolitan urban development, there are many sites to visit. Japan is an island nation in East Asia, an archipelago of 4 major and 4,000 smaller islands situated in the Pacific ocean along the Eastern coast of Asia. Japan is located east of the Korean Peninsula which is across the sea of Japan, northeast of China across the East China Sea and South East of Russia, with the Sea of Okhotsk in the middle. The largest river in Japan is Shinano.
There is a long ridge of mountains that run through Japan, the main mountains ranges are, Akaishi, Hido and Kiso that are over 9500feet high. The highest mountain is Mount Fuji which is also Tokyo’s dormant volcano. The location of the islands of Japan means that the country is prone to earthquakes and some volcanic activity.
The climate in Japan sees extremely warm summers and mild winters. There is a lot of rain and rainy seasons during the summer. The 4 major islands are called; Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku.
In Honshu, there are major Japanese cities and 23 special wards of Tokyo. A quarter of the population resides in and around the areas of Tokyo and Yokohama. The other highly populated areas include Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Sendai, Hiroshima and Nagoya.
Honshu is connected to the islands of Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku by a set of tunnels and bridges. Most of the great ports of Japan are in Honshu. Kanagawa prefecture is in the southern Kanto Region, part of the Honshu island area of Japan.
in the greater Tokyo area which has 7 prefectures: Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa. The land type of Kanto is hills and mountains but also developed and urban. There are 19 cities in Kanagawa prefecture and the Capital is Yokohama and it is a part of the greater Tokyo area.
As well as having the largest Chinatown in Japan and one of the largest in the world, Yokohama Port is an International container hub port and Misaki Port provides the Ferry Route to Kisarazu. The significant sites from this area are the archaeological sites dating back to around 400BC. famously, in ancient Japanese history, Mount Hakone had a volcanic eruption and thus produced Lake Ashi in the west.
Tokyo is north of Kanagawa, and also east of Mount Fuji. Sagami Bay is just south of Kanagawa prefecture and Tokyo Bay the coast in the eastern direction. Other coastal towns from Tokyo area include; Yokosuka, Miura Peninsula, Miura, and Chikasaka.
The port cities of Yokohama and Kawasaki are both on the coast. Kanagawa is south of the mountain regions; Mount Tanzawa, Mount Gongen and Mount Hakone is West from the prefecture.
