Liaoning Province Hotels China
Liaoning Province lies to the North East of China, on the coast. It borders the Yellow and the Bohai Seas, North Korea, Joilin and Hebei provinces and Inner Mongolia. The province occupies over 56,000 sq miles, with a population of 43m. Shenyang is, the provincial capital and one of the largest cities in China. Liaoning Province is rich and varied in natural beauty and it has very many important and interesting attractions.
This is a province with a great wall of its own - in about 1440 - 1470, a defense was built along the northwestern frontier of the province to protect against potential threats of invasion. The Liaodong Wall was made to a low-cost design; though tiles and stones were used for some parts of it, most of the wall was built up as an earthworks, with moats either side - however, it failed to keep invaders at bay. After a chequered history of occupations, the modern day province of Liaoning is recent, established only following the second world war in 1945.
It was one of the first to industrialize, first under Japanese occupation, and later even faster in the 1950s and 1960s. Liaoning divides into three geographical regions, from highlands in the west, through central plains with a cluster of cities, and to hills in the east. The highlands feature the Nulu’erhu Mountains, a region of hills which form the border with Inner Mongolia.
The central plain consists of river watersheds and tributaries, land which is mainly flat and low. The eastern ranges of Changbai Shan and Quianshan extend into the sea as the Liaodong Peninsula. The province has a continental monsoon climate overall with rainy summers.
The province has a number of historic World Heritage sites - palaces, tombs, cities - including notably Shenyang Imperial Palace. Though smaller, it is on the same principles as the Forbidden City in Beijing, completed in 1636. It’s the most complete imperial building in China and also a museum with fine exhibits of Ming and Qing jade, ivory and artworks, musical instruments, and C17th and C18th military equipment.
Southeast of Shenyang is the largest water cave in Asia, at Benxi. The Benxi Water Cave National Park offers six spectacular sights, all in a limited area: Mount Miaohou, Mount Tiecha, Mount Guanmen, the Spa Temple, Tanggou Valley, and the Water Cave itself with a river so clear you can see right down to its bed on a sight-seeing boat trip that reveals a world of prehistoric stalactite formations. On the coast the port of Dalian, on the tip of the Liaiodong peninsula, is a tourist destination with beaches, resorts, restaurants, shopping, sights and activities and even streetcars - something not often seen in China.
