Limousin Hotels France

Limousin Limousin is one of the 26 regions of France situated in central France surrounded by (from the north and clockwise) the regions of Centre, Auvergne, Midi Pyrenees, Aquitaine, and Poitou-Charentes to the west. It has three departments: Correze, Creuse and Haute-Vienne. The historic capital and regional centre is Limoges. Limousin is situated in the north west of the Massif Central, and the terrain is mainly flat plains of pasture and rolling hills in the north-west, and the rest of the area is mountainous with the Pyrenees in the south and the Alps in the east. There are beautiful lakes and forests interspersed with rushing rivers and tiny villages.

The climate is generally of cool and mild winters and hot summers , with the mistral, the cold, dry northwesterly wind, blowing occasionally. On the rich pasture land the traditional Limousin beef cattle are raised, and other traditional Limousin products are the Aubusson tapestries and Limoges porcelain. The department of Correze has some of the most scenic villages in France, there are many medieval towns and historically interesting churches and chateaux.

The Animal Park – Parc Animalier des Monts Gueret has a number of wolf packs that can be seen in their natural environment.
