Lorraine Hotels France

Lorraine Lorraine is one of France’s 26 regions, situated in the north eastern part of France. Unique amongst the French regions by being the only administrative region having borders with three other countries, namely Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. The French regions of Champagne-Ardenne , Franche-Comte, Alsace and have western, southern and eastern borders respectively with Lorraine. The region has two important cities Metz and Nancy with Metz considered to be the regional capital. Lorraine’s terrain is mainly forested and hilly.

The Vosges Mountains are found along the eastern border with Alsace, leading to the Lorraine Plateau on the west bordering Champagne-Ardennes. The Meuse River crosses the region from south-southwest to north-northwest. Lorraine has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters that are severe in high regions.

Lorraine has a number of attractions for the tourist, with historical, cultural and natural treasures. Perhaps even the Merovingien King Clovis benefited from the healing spring waters of Lorraine. Even before this time the springs of Lorraine fed the Celtic Temples and Roman Baths, the forerunners of the spas and health resorts of Vittel and its Club Mediterranee, Contrexeville and Bains-Les-Bains close to Metz.

These resources also favour the wildlife reserves and centres for watersports as well as fishing, as well as sailing, windsurfing and motor boats on the vast expanses of water within the region, including 700kms of navigable waterways.
