Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Hotels Germany

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is one of Germany’s 16 states (Bundeslandes), it is sixth largest in terms of area, but only fourteenth by population. The boundary to the north is the Baltic Sea, and by Schleswig-Holstein to the west, Lower Saxony to the southwest, Brandenburg to the south and Poland to the east. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Baltic Sea coast has several islands – and germany’s two largest islands Rugen and Usedom, but also various smaller islands. The southern part of the state has a large number of lakes. This “state of a thousand lakes” is proud of its a clean and unsullied environment.

There are over 280 nature reserves, 110 landscape reserves and three national parks. Many fishing lakes used also for sailing are in the Mecklenburg Lake District. As the state has Germany’s largest portion of coastline, sailing and windsurfing are popular.

There are over 100 scenic small towns in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern- around 1300 years ago the oldest towns were founded by Slavic settlers, and this early history can still be followed today. In addition, there are splendid houses and brick churches in harbour towns like Rostock and Wismar that have evidence of the wealth and importance of the Hanseatic League, that great medieval commercial association. The locals love their land – and so do the visitors.

The impressive unspoilt natural scenery, from the Baltic Coast to the Lake District, offering clean air and a healthy climate, old town treasures and outdoor activities, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is becoming a popular destination. And because of its clean air and idyllic settings, is also becoming increasingly popular for medical tourism.
