New Mexico Hotels United States

New Mexico New Mexico is one of the states in the United States of America situated in the southwestern region of the US. New Mexico shares borders to the east with Oklahoma and Texas, the eastern two-thirds of the southern border is shared with Texas, and the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora make up the western third. The western border is with Arizona, and the northern border is with Colorado. The states of New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah come together at the Four Corners in the northwestern corner of New Mexico. Santa Fe is the state capital though the largest city is Albuquerque, with other cities including Las Cruces, Rio Rancho, Roswell and the small but beautiful Taos.

New Mexico is a large state, but has little surface water. The New Mexican landscape varies from the rose-coloured deserts, to broken mesas (elevated land with a flat top) to snow-capped peaks), though, despite its aridity there are a number of forested mountain wildernesses especially in the northern part of the state. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountains run north-south along the Rio Grande in the north.

There are many things of interest to the tourist in New Mexico, both outdoor activities and historical attractions. Sante Fe itself is a delight with its narrow streets lined with adobe homes, some dating from the 17th century – it is also famous for its museums (like the Georgia O’Keeffe museum) and art galleries. Taos too, is a mixture of ancient pueblo, Spanish and modern.

The Taos Ski Valley has world-class Skiing in a long winter season. The mountain area are also good for fishing, hiking and biking in summer.
