New South Wales Hotels Australia

New South Wales New South Wales (abbr. NSW) is Australia’s largest state in terms of population. It is located in the south east of Australia, just north of Victoria, south of Queensland, and east of South Australia. New South Wales has an interesting geography, with a range of landscapes. Some of these features are firstly, seaboard and coastal lowlands – NSW has a coastline of 1460 km with a few inlets.

Secondly there are tablelands formed by the Great Diving Range and where the coastal rivers originate – the Snowy Mountains regions has the highest peak on the continent – Mount Kosciusko at 2228 km. Thirdly, western slopes forming a fertile, undulating region with rich plains along rivers flowing inland, and some rugged areas – regular, adequate rainfall has led to cultivation in these areas. Fourthly, there are western plains which cover almost two-thirds of the state.

There is fertile soil, but low rainfall, limited river water and high temperatures limit agriculture. Some NSW cities are well known, such as Sydney, and Canberra, the capital, and some less well known such as Newcastle, Wagga Wagga, Palmerston and Broken Hill. So, New south Wales has large expanses of unspoilt beaches, wonderful natural landscapes and vibrant cities.

Whether its climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge, visiting the Hunter Valley or the Blue Mountains hiking in Mungo National Park or going for the snowfields in the Snowy Mountains, there is plenty to do ! Many visitors start in Sydney then travel south along the coastline or south west through the Highlands and Tablelands towards Canberra for an interesting tour.
