Niigata-ken Hotels Japan

Niigata – Ken, or Niigata Prefecture, is an administrative of Japan situated on the coast of Honshu Island on the Sea of the Japan. It is named after its capital city, Niigata, which means “new lagoon. ” The region has a coastline of close to 250 km and is largely a coastal plain, with the addition of the separate Sado Island. The Prefecture’s major industry is agriculture, in particular its high quality rice. The city of Niigata has several tourist attractions including the Sake Museum which chronicles the history of Sake making and offers tastings.

The nearby Echigo Hillside Park has displays of beautiful flowers as well as a good restaurant on site. For a relaxing way to see the area, take a cruise on the Shinano River or visit the Tsukioka Hot Springs and its nearby park. Sado Island is reachable by a regular ferry service and is popular with tourists in the summer due to its striking scenery.

Accommodation is plentiful in the Niigata region. A luxury option is the Hotel Nikko Niigata. It is next to the Convention Centre and Sado Island Ferry Building so is ideally located and has superb views of the city and the sea.

A well-reviewed budget option is the Niigata Terminal Hotel which is popular with Japanese business travellers.
