North Dakota Hotels United States
North Dakota is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States, it is bordered by South Dakota in the south and in the north is the Canadian border. To the west is Montana and to the east is Minnesota, the capital city for this state is Bismarck and the largest is Fargo. North Dakota is often referred to as the upper Midwest as well as the Great Plains or High Plains. There is a stone in the town of Ruby which states it is the ‘Geographic Centre of the North American Continent’. In the west there is the Great Plains with its rolling hills, the central regions has two main areas the Drift Prairie and the Missouri Plateau while the east is flat and is home to the Red River Valley.
The state in general has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters, although the east half tends to be more humid and the western half more akin to semi-arid climates. Tornados do occur in this state as do blizzards and thunderstorms. In the Red River Valley flooding is commonplace in the spring.
North-eastern temperatures in summer tend to average around 28 degrees and this is the same for the south-western region. There are many things to do in this state starting with the capital Bismarck; there is the North Dakota Heritage Centre, The Dakota Zoo, the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Lewis and Clark Riverboat. In Fargo you will find the Red River Zoo, the Fargo Air Museum, Bonanzaville USA, Windbreak Saloon & Casino and the The Children's Museum at Yunker Farm.
In the Theodore Roosevelt National Park there is the Painted Canyon Overlook, the Petrified Forest Loop as well as a number of trails and driving routes to explore all with stunning views. In Grand Forks there is North Dakota Museum of Art, the Centre for Aerospace Sciences in the University of North Dakota, the Flood Memorial Monument and the lovely Japanese Gardens. Hotels in the state capital include the two star Ramada Limited Suites and the three star Radisson Hotel.
Fargo has the one star Red River Lodge, the two star La Quinta Inn & Suites and the three star Hilton Garden Inn. Grand Forks can offer the two star Country Inn & Suites and the three star SpringHill Suites.
