Ohio Hotels United States

Ohio Ohio is a midwestern state in the United States of America, and though only the 34th largest by area, is the 7th most populous. Ohio shares borders with Pennsylvania to the east, Ontario, Canada to the north, Indiana to the west, Kentucky to the south and West Virginia to the southeast. To the north Ohio has 502km of coastline on Lake Erie with several seaports, and the Ohio river marks the southern boundary of the state. Ohio’s geographic location has been a major asset for economic growth. The state links the Northwest USA to the Midwest and has a good communication infrastruture being only one day’s drive to 50% of USA population.

Columbus is the state capital. Ohio lies within two large geographic regions of the United States: Eastern Ohio is within the Appalachian region of the eastern USA and the rest of the state is within the lowland region covering much of the midwest. The Appalachian Plateau is gently rolling to the north, where the receding glaciers smoothed the ground, but the southern part of the plateau, not affected by glaciation, is much rougher.

Highest elevation in this area is around 430m. The Lowlands region has a gently rolling landscape with broad valleys and some high hills (highest point 472m lowest point 132m). Ohio is truly a melting pot – the cities have a thriving city life and the many cultures and ethnicities that make up Ohio’s population can be found in districts such as German Village in Columbus or Little Italy in Cleveland.

These cultural neighborhoods lead to good food and interesting culture. Central Ohio is home to the world’s largest Amish community – and visitors can shop for handmade quilts and artwork in Millersburg, Berlin or Walnut Creek. Visitors will also enjoy seeing the shore of Lake Erie or the Hocking Hills at the foothills of the Appalachians for the outdoor enthusiast.
