Oklahoma Hotels United States
Oklahoma is a State in the south central part of the United States of America and is bordered by New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. Its capital is Oklahoma City! Oklahoma is the fifth largest crude oil producer in America. The land is mostly given over to Forests and prairie grasslandsThe Great Plains take up most of Oklahoma State but some of the land occupies the foothills of the Rockies (at the panhandle). During the 19th century many thousands of Native Americans were driven from their homelands and they were transported to Oklahoma. It’s part of what is known as the “Bible Belt” which means inhabitants believe in evangelical Christianity and tend to be more on the conservative side.
From Route 66 to Museums, Casinos to State Parks, Oklahoma State has so much to offer! If you fancy hunting for elk, wild turkey or even deer, more than fifty farms offer lodging with supervised hunts. You should definitely check out the Blue Whale of Catoosa, which once symbolised the iconic Route 66 – it’s there on the southbound section, near the old Alligator Farm. Did you know that Beaver is the Cow Chip Throwing Capital of the world? The competition’s held every April with these “Frisbees of the priairie”.
Look out for many of the Native American cultural events such as the Pow Wow at White Eagle and see the eleven “mounds” created by the Spiro Indians, just outside Arkansas. The Philbrook Museum in Tulsa is one of only 5 in America with art collections, gardens and an historical home. Stop off at the National Lighter museum for illumination, in Guthrie, or the Santa Fe Depot Museum in Shawnee.
You’ll also enjoy a day at the historic Fort of Reno. “Good eatings” in Oklahoma include Cornbread, biscuits, chicken, steak and gravy. Head for the Cattlemen’s Steakhouse or the Deep Fork Grill in Oklahoma City or the Boulevard Steakhouse, in Edmond.
There’s accommodation to suit all in Oklahoma State. Check into Oklahoma City’s Sheraton Midwest City Hotel or Hampton Inn Oklahoma City I 40 East. Explore Shawnee, then stay at the Hampton Inn.
In Reno try the Baymont Inn Suites or the Ambassador Hotel’s good, in Tulsa.
