Region of Murcia Hotels Spain

The Region of Murcia is a community in South-East Spain, one of Europe’s larger countries. It is on the popular Mediterranean coast between Andalusia and the Valencian Community. The Capital city of the Region is Murcia situated on the River Segura. The Region is very diverse geographically and has miles of sandy beaches on the Costa Calida, mountains to the North, fertile plains and lakes. Mar Menor, Spain’s largest lake is in the Region of Murcia and a very popular tourist attraction.

Cartagena, on the coast, once a Roman trading port is a very historical city with an impressive Archaeological Museum and the restored Roman Theatre is worth a visit. Caravaca de la Cruz in the North-West of the Region boasts beautiful historic architecture and is an important Catholic city. However, it also draws visitors to its many bars and restaurants.

Depending on the time of year, visitors may be lucky enough to witness the Holy Week Processions in Cartegena and Lorca, a large medieval town with one of the Region’s most famous castles. The processions have been declared of International Tourist Interest. Due to the warm and consistent climate, The Region of Murcia has a number of excellent wineries near the towns of Yecla, Bullas and Jumilla, and has over 200 sandy beaches to enjoy over a 250km stretch from el Mojón at the North of the Region to Águilas, South West near Almería.
