Rhineland-Palatinate Hotels Germany

Rhineland-Palatinate Rhineland-Palatinate is one of Germany’s 16 states, situated in the furthest western part of Germany. It has an area of some 7. 6 k sq km and a population of about 4 million. Rhineland-Palatinate shares borders with , from the north, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Baden-Wurttemburg, France, Luxembourg and Belgium. The Eifel and Hunsrick mountain chains are on the west bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate, whilst the Westerwald and Taunus mountains are on the east bank.

As the Rhine flows from the Swiss alps to the north Sea it meanders around 300 km through Rhineland-Palatinate. The Rhineland mild and sunny climate is ideal for wine production and two thirds of German Wine comes from the six growing areas in Rhineland-Palatinate. The German Wine Road- the Deutsche Weinstrasse- links these areas and is a must-visit tasting trip for wine lovers.

The route starts in Bockenheim and ends in Schweigen- Rechterbach. Between August and October there are more than 1,000 wine festivals and Carnivals in the area! Rhineland –Palatinate is also famous for its historical heritage – over 1,500 castles, ruins and palaces give a treasure trove for the visitor. There are also many historical towns and cities including Mainz, the state capital, Trier with the Roman ruins, Worms with the famous Romanesque cathedral, Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle meet, and the cathedral city of Speyer.
