Shiga-ken Hotels Japan
Shiga-ken is a prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu and is part of the Kansai Region which is situated in the south-central area of the island. It has borders with the Fukui prefecture in the north, Gifu in the east, Mie in the southeast and Kyoto in the west. Within this prefecture lies Japans largest lake, Lake Biwa, low lying plains run along the eastern side of the lake while the entire prefecture is surrounded by mountain ranges. The capital of this prefecture is Otsu while some of the other main cities include Yasu, Koka, Konan, Maibara and Takashima. The main feature to this area id of course Lake Biwa but in addition to this there are over 800 national treasures.
The most famous building in the prefecture is Hikone Castle, while the Ishiyama Temple in the capital was the place where one of Japans best loved and famous novel was written Tale of Genji. There are also parades, float festivals and kite festivals. In the capital there are many hotels, B&B’s and Inns in which to stay.
At the lower end of the hotel scale there is the Hotel Com’s Otsu and the Hotel Alpha-1 Otsu while further up the price bracket you have the Royal Oak Hotel and further up again there is the Auberge Meson. The variety of accommodation type and price is wide in this region so take your time to browse as nay possible options as you can before booking.
