South Carolina Hotels United States

You’ll enjoy a humid, sub-tropical climate in South Carolina, a state in America’s Deep South which is surrounded in turn by, Georgia and North Carolina. During the American Revolution it was one of thirteen colonies to claim its independence from Britain. Within its boundaries is an extraordinary region known as the “South Carolina National Heritage Corridor. ” This includes Table Rock at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains right through to the clear waters of Lake Jocassee, sandy beaches and the historic cobblestone streets of Charleston. South Carolina is famous for cotton fields, pirates, slaves, soul food and swamps.

It’s not all pig-pickin's, spirituals and bluegrass in South Carolina, but it could be if you wanted! The State has 378 amazing Golf Courses and 47 beautiful State Parks to visit! In the mountains and lakes area – loads to see and do – so take in the Blue Ridge Arts centre and the Bee Well Honey and Natural Market in Pickens. The Bob Campbell Geology Museum’s interesting and you should try to stop off at the Old Pickens Presbyterian Church and their museum. Along the freshwater coast region there’s the Dorn Mill Centre of History and Art, historic downtown Saluda and the National Wild Turkey Federation museum.

Head for the Aiken County Farmers Market on Richland Avenue. After that it’s on to the Charleston Tea Plantation, Drayton Hall and Bee City, enjoying a stop over at Myrtle Beach. Eat out anywhere in South Carolina to enjoy fantastic boiled peanuts – they’re addictive! Enjoy classic comfort-food such as chicken and dumplings, or a roast – also served at the famous ‘pig picklin'” events.

Great restaurants like the Blue Marlin, Lincoln Street in Columbia, any Aiken restaurant or the Fish Restaurant King Street in Charleston. Stay upmarket at the Marriott on Myrtle Beach or the Hampton Inn Columbia Hotel which is Downtown in the Historic District. Further south there are full campground amenities and modern villas at the Devil’s Fork State Park.

In Saluda, the Orchard Inn is a little more expensive, but good or you might try the Oaks Bed and Breakfast accommodation, in a lovely setting.
