The State of Arunachal Pradesh is situated in the north-eastern province of India. The state borders Burma and its towns and villages reflect the mixture of architectural influences as many Burmese citizens have settled in Arunachal Pradesh over the years. The town of Along has many interesting historical features, such as bridges and waterways, fishing opportunities, and relaxation spots. However, it is in a remote location so car hire is essential but rooms are very reasonably priced.

The Hotel Tawang Inn is situated near to the monastery and is in a great location in terms of sightseeing. The hotel has a small restaurant and meals are included in the room price – which is extremely reasonable. Rooms on the upper floors have fantastic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and the hotel itself is within easy reach of Tawang town centre.

Be aware that the remote location means that electricity supply is rather erratic and there are no street lights so it is wise to carry a torch with you if you are venturing out at night.
