Madhya Pradesh is a state in the centre of India and because of this it is often referred to as the Heart of India. It has borders with Uttar Pradesh is in the north-east, Rajasthan is to the northwest, Gujarat is in the west, Maharashtra lies to the south and Chhattisgarh is in the east. The capital is Bhopal while Indore is the largest city and is usually referred to as the commercial capital id the state and Gwalior is known as the tourist capital. The Narmada River runs from east to west between the Vindya and Satpura ranges which are hills rather than mountains. The river and the two ranges are known as the border between the north and south of India.

There are many rivers in the state as well as diverse forested regions. The climate here is classified as subtropical with hot and dry summers running from April through to June, from July to September the region see’s the monsoon season which is followed by a cool and dry winter. The capital is a traditional city with plenty of its heritage on show, some of the sites to visit here include the Bharat Bhavan which is an art centre, Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya is a natural history museum, Taj-ul-Masjid and Moti Masjid are two beautiful mosques while the Laxmi Narayan Temple is another must see.

There are a number of old palaces and mosques in the city as well as a variety of bazaars. Indore has a number of temples such as the Annapurna Temple and the Deoguradia, The Rajwada Palace of Indore which is an imposing and stunning structure as well as the Lal Bagh Palace which spans over 200 areces of land. In Gwalior there are many things to see and do; the fort here is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

There is the tomb of the famous freedom fighter Rani Lakshmibai, ai Vilas Palace and a zoo. The state is also home to the Kanha Tiger Reserve, Bandhavgarh which is a National Park where you take can take elephant safaris. There are 9 national parks in the state as well as Bagh Caves and the Bori Natural Reserve.

Some of the accommodation in this state is as follows; in the capital there is the budget hotel Ranjeet, the three star Lake View Ashok, four star Hotel Residency and the five star Jehan Numa Palace.
