State of Rajasthan Hotels India

They call the State of Rajasthan the land of Kings. It’s the largest State in the Republic of India and holds within its boundaries the inhospitable Great Indian Desert. Bordering the State of Rajasthan is Pakistan in the west, Gujurat to the southwest and Punjab to the north. The capital of the State of Rajasthan is Jaipur (known as the Pink City) and was once part of British India. Within the State you’ll find the Thar Desert with its incredible Sand Dunes and the Ghaggar River.

The River leads to the ruins at Kalibanga, which are the oldest discovered in that subcontinent, and not to be missed. Just near the capital, stop by the Amber Fort and also go shopping for an amazing array of souvenirs from carvings to carpets. In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan you must take in the beauty of the Kanak Vrindavan Valley, Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh and the Vidyadhar Gardens.

Other must see stop offs in Jaipur include the City Palace, the Jaigarh and Nahargarh Forts and the beautiful Hawa Mahal or “Palace of winds”. Visit Jaipur’s extraordinary temples – Galtaji, Moti Dungri and Birla Temple to mention only a few. Take a camel Safari through the Thar Desert; visit the Wildlife sanctuary of Bhensrod Garh, Gajner or Ranthambore National Park of course.

The latter is most well-known for its tiger reserve under the title “Project Tiger”. You may be lucky enough to visit during some of Rajasthan’s popular Festivals. These include the Elephant Festival, Gangaur Festival, the colourful Kite Festival or the Teej Festival.

To the north of Rajasthan State, in Hanumangarh district are the ruins of Kalibanga, the oldest discovered in the sub-continent. The ruins are extensive and offer an extraordinary window on the past. By day or night you can eat the characteristic spicy food of the region on the road from Jaipur to Delhi at Muskan Midway, or you’ll enjoy eating at unassuming “Trio” offering great views of Jaisalmer.

In Jaipur you’ll do well to stay at the Alsisar Haveli Hotel or the air conditioned Jaipur Palace. Twelve minutes from the airport is the reasonably priced Hotel Mandakini Castle or Krishna Palace. Save money and try the Hotel Mansingh Palace in Ajmer, or the Hotel Laxmi Vilas Palace, in Bharatpur.
