State of Tripura Hotels India
Tripura is a state located in North-East India. This is a hilly region that is landlocked. It has borders with Bangladesh on the north, west and east. Assam and Mizoram can be found on the east. The capital of Tripura is Agartala.
Agartala is a picturesque capital and the perfect place to start your tourist adventure. Udaipur in the south Tripura district is 55kms from Agartala and is famous for Tripura Sundari Temple. It is also known as Lake City as there are a number of artificial lakes.
Due to its beauty and rich culture this region is a popular tourist destination still relatively unspoilt and natural. The rich heritage is evident in the amazing palaces previously owned by the Maharajas of the Manikya dynasty. Visit the Ujjayanta palace in Agartala which is situated on the banks of a lake nestled in by large Mughal gardens.
This exquisite palace dates from 1901. Trekking is really popular in this area and the highest peak is Betalongchhip with an altitude of 3600 metres. In the Jampui hills you will find the eternal springs alongside beautiful natural landscape.
You can hire walking gear from local shops and the base camps. There are treks available for all abilities and fitness levels. There are also four wildlife sanctuaries in the state: Rowa, Sepahijala, Trishna and Gumti wildlife sanctuary.
If you prefer museums you must pay a visit to the Tripura Government museum which is full of artefacts and manuscripts to remind visitors of the colourful past of this region. In addition, there are four beautiful galleries: Indian sculpture, Tribal culture, archaeological gallery and painting gallery which preserves the rich culture and tradition. Whilst shopping pick up some of the popular handicrafts such as cotton fabrics, cane and bamboo furniture and wood carvings.
Accommodation is generally affordable in this whole region. Rooms run the pricing gamut from low-budget to expensive. There are budget hotels such as Hotel Vishnupriya-Tg which offers great value for money.
Midrange hotels include the popular Ram Pratap palace on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake. Taj Palace is a 4 star hotel. For a luxury stay you could try The Oberoi Udaivilas on the banks of Lake Pichola in Udaipur which is a 5 star exclusive hotel with first-class service provided.
