Tennessee can be found in the south-eastern region of the United States, it has borders with Kentucky and Virginia in the north, on its eastern side is North Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi along with Alabama makes up its southern border and to its west is Arkansas and Missouri. In the eastern region of the state there is the Appalachian Mountains and on the western border is the great Mississippi River. The capital is Nashville, while Memphis is the largest city in the state. The state is divided up into three regions, East, Middle and West Tennessee. In the east some of the features include the Great Smoky Mountains, Bald Mountains, Iron Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest.
In the middle you will find the Highland Rim, the Nashville Basin and the Pennyroyal Plateau. In the west there is the Gulf Coastal Plain, Mississippi embayment, the Tennessee Bottoms and the Mississippi Alluvial Plain. The state has on average 15 tornados per year but these all tend to be very severe and have the highest fatality rate in all of the U.
The climate is classified as humid sub tropical so summers tend to be very hot and heavy and winters mild to cool. Attractions in Nashville include the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Tennessee State Museum, Adventure Science Centre and the Nashville Zoo.
Memphis has Sun studio made famous by Elvis ‘The King’ Presley, Memphis Zoo, Stax Museum of American Soul Music and the Children's Museum of Memphis. In the Great Smoky Mountains and National Park there is Cades Cove, Laurel Falls, Mountain Farm Museum as well as numerous peaks, hiking trails and driving routes to explore. In Knoxville there is the Frank H.
McClung Museum, Knoxville Zoological Gardens, Confederate Memorial Hall and the Old City. Hotels in the capital include the one star Super 8 Nashville, the two star Comfort Suites, the three star Hyatt Place Nashville Airport and the four star Hutton Hotel. In Memphis there is the one star Memphis Inn, the two star Rodeway Inn Memphis, the three star Residence Inn Memphis Downtown and the four star River Inn of Harbor Town.
Knoxville has the one star Days Inn Knoxville West, the two star Hampton Inn Knoxville North, the three star Four Points by Sheraton Knoxville Cumberland House and the four star Cook Loft.
