Tianjin Shi Hotels China

Tianjin Shi region is located in northern China and spreads around the third largest city 80km East of Beijing. Only one hour by train Tianjin is a popular tourist destination for Beijing residents. Also the Tianjin International Airport makes it an easily accessible holiday destination. Close to the coast this city has a varied and colourful history that can be seen throughout the architecture dotted around the city today. Tianjin port is famous for its “Treaty of Tianjin” of 1856 that gave Europeans the right to establish nine concessionary bases on the mainland, from which they could trade and sell opium.

Set along the banks for the River Hai Tianjin visitors can see the influx of affluence generated from this historical trade including French Built Chateau’s and towers and red Bavarian Villas. The best way to travel around the city is by subway or bus although there are some districts that are small enough to walk around. City attractions include: The Old City on the west side of the River Hai that shows the historical beauty of the city and is also a place to take a boat trip.

Tianjin has its own shopping district and is particular famous for its antiques; the antique market in Shandong Lu sells a wealth of fascinating objects including: jewellery, ceramics, fans, perfume bottles and opium pipes. Around the district of Nanjing Lu the Xikai Catholic Church is a distinctive landmark of the city. Other interesting landmarks include: the Temple of Great Compassion located in the Hebei district.

Also the Guangdong Guildhall is the most exquisitely decorated and preserved hall of its kind in Tianjin. A short bus ride from town will take you to the famous residence of the Shi family a prosperous merchant family that includes a theatre and courtyard grounds that will provide an excellent day trip. 30 miles from downtown Tianjin is the Tianjin Beach holiday resort a popular holiday destination with a flat, soft sandy beach that is the largest bathing beach in China.

Tianjin also has to offer a uniquely spectacular countryside steeped in history. Pan Mountain in Ji County is an area of immense natural beauty, the first Mountain in Jingdong that is scattered with restored temples and sculptures. The Great Wall at Huangya Pass is 18 miles north of Ji County is a unique 15th Century historical landmark that connects the Widow Platform in the east and Wangmaoding Mountain in the west.

Tianjin region is famous for its steamed dumplings called the Goubuli and fried cakes called Tianjin Erduoyan. Try Goubuli one of the best dumpling shops in town and for a cosy winter meal serving dishing including Mongolian hotpot visit Little Sheep that has several branches throughout the city of Tianjin. Accommodation in Tianjin caters for all budgets.
