Uttarakhand Hotels India

Uttarakhand is a state in the northern area of India. It encompasses parts of the Himalayan region and Uttar Pradesh, with whom it has borders to the south. It also borders onto Tibet to the north, Nepal to the east, Haryana on its western side and Himachal Pradesh on the north western point. It is known for its outstanding natural beauty and has only been recently formed into a state in its own right. Uttarakhand offer tourists the chance to see amazing geological diversity, with rivers, dense forests, glaciers and snow-clad mountain ranges.

It also provides for a diverse selection of flora and fauna with many varieties of medicinal plant life and numerous animals to view. There are a number of major areas of interest within Uttarakhand, depending on what you would like to see. The Himalayan district can allow for cooler weather than you will find in the plains region and it also allows for a large winter tourist attraction as the temperature can drop very low and encourage snow.

The state offers a variety of National Parks which provide excellent entertainment and the chance to see some truly unique sights. There is the Jim Corbett National Park near Nainital, the Valley of Flowers; the Nanda Devi National Park in the Charnoli District which includes a sanctuary that is a glacial basin that has drained into the Rishi Ganga Gorge. The Rajaji National Park in the Haridwar District contains tropical and subtropical forests and the Shivaliks foothills; then finally the Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary and Gangotri National Parks in the Uttarkashi District.

There are a number of places of interest scattered around the region. The mountain resort of Almora provides visitors with the opportunity to vacation in the shadows of the Himalayas in a beautiful horseshoe shaped town, with a number of impressive temples to view as well. Nainital is a stunning town, dotted with lakes which has earned it the name of “Lake District of India”.

Rishikesh is a popular pilgrim centre and has a large number of yoga centres. It is deemed as the gateway to the shrines on the mountains and is known as the place for the meditation of the Gods.
