Valencian Community Hotels Spain

Valencian Community The Valencian Community is one of Spain’s 17 autonomous communities situated in the central-southeastern Iberian Peninsula. It has three provinces: Alicante, Castellon and Valencia. The Vslencian Community is bordered by Catalonia to the north east, Aragon to the north, Castilla la Mancha to the west and Murcia to the south. On its eastern side the Valencian Community has 518 km of Mediterranean coastline and has 23. 25K sq km of land area and some 5 million population.

The inland part of the territory is mountainous with peaks of the Iberian range in the Valencia and Castellon provinces, and the mountains in the Alicante province part of the Subbetic range. The somewhat thin coastal strip is a fertile plain mainly free of mountains except for some in the Cabo de la Neo area and Peniscola area in Castellon. There are also coastal wetlands and marshlands, home for seabirds and waterbirds.

The Valencian Community is known as the garden of Spain with its intensive cultivation under irrigation started by the Moors, and famous for its orange and other citrus groves, its amazing long beaches and beautiful countryside. Though many visitors come to the area for just sun and sand, there are interesting sights relating to ancient civilisations of the Phoenicians, Greeks, Iberians and Romans -as well as the interwoven Hispano-Moorish traditions. Major attractions of this beautiful area are Valencia, the capital, with its Gothic archtecture, Alicante, the second city with its Moorish castle, the outstanding Costa Blanca with its resorts of Benidorm, Calpe and Denia, the Costa Azahar- the “Orange Blossom Coast” with great beaches and Peniscola and its medieval castle, and Castellon and its cathedral.
