Vermont Hotels United States

Vermont can be found in the north-eastern region of the United States known as New England. It has the second smallest population and is the only state in New England that does not have an Atlantic coastline. It has borders with Massachusetts in the south, New Hampshire sites to its east, New York is on its western flank and the Canadian border is in the north. In this small state there is Lake Champlain which separates the state from New York, and the state is also home to the Green Mountains. The capital of this state is Montpelier and has a population of fewer than 8,000; its most populated city is Burlington and only has 42,417 people living there.

Its climate is has been classified as humid continental, with warm summers and cool to cold winters, depending on elevation. In winter the state is popular with skiers and snowboarders, as well as Nordic and backcountry skiers. There are a number of excellent resorts such as Burke Mountain Ski Area, Smugglers Notch, Killington Ski Resort and Mad River Glen.

For the Nordic and backcountry skiers there is the Catamount Trail. For lovers of ice cream there is the Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour in Waterbury, here you can see how their lovely ice creams are made and visit the full service scoop shop and gift shop. Another sweet destination is the Sugarbush Farm in Woodstock, here you can learn how maple syrup is made and even try it out.

For wildlife there is the VINS Nature Centre in Quechee which has golden eagles, snowy owls and red-tailed hawks to name but a few. In Burlington there is the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Centre which has around 70 different species and 100 interactive displays. Some other attractions include the Great Vermont Corn Maze in Danville, Green Mountain Railroad in White River Junction, Okemo Mountain Resort - Timber Ripper in Ludlow, Quechee Gorge Village in Quechee as well as numerous museums and historical sites.

Hotels in the state start with the one star Yankee Village Motel in Ascutney and the Mote 6 in Burlington. Two star hotels include the Toll Road Inn in Manchester and the Hilltop Inn of Vermont in Montpelier. Three star accommodations include the Inn of the Six Mountains in Killington and the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe.

For four stars there is the Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa in Stowe and the The Essex, Vermont's Culinary Resort and Spa in Essex Junction. Finally at five stars there is the Smugglers' Notch Resort Vermont in Jeffersonville and the Stowe Mountain Lodge on Stowe Mountain.
