Victoria Hotels Australia

Victoria Victoria, is geographically the smallest mainland state of Australia, though with the highest population of around 5 million. Victoria share northern borders with New south Wales, to the west is South Australia and is separated from Tasmania to the south by Bass Strait. Victoria has a highly centralised population with over 75% living in Melbourne, the state capital and largest city. The Murray River forms Victoria’s northern border, and the state lies at the southern extremity of the Great Dividing Range, that stretches along the coast and ends at Ballarat. Victoria’s climate and terrain is very diverse, ranging from the wet temperate Gippsland in the southeast to the Victorian alpine areas with Mount Bogong at almost 2000m its highest peak, and semi –dry plains extending to the west and north west.

The countryside varies from the cliff faces and white beaches around Melbourne’s bays and peninsulas, to the peaks of the Dandenongs and Macedon Ranges giving a backdrop to green valleys and vineyards. In addition there are forests of gum trees and ash trees, and fields of wild flowers Major places to look for in Victoria as well as the city resources of Melbourne are the nearby attractions the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges as well as Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges,. The olive groves and vineyards of the Mornington Peninsula are worth a visit as is Philip Island.

Visitors can follow the Great Ocean Road or have a historic visit to the Goldfields.
