Vorarlberg Hotels Austria

Vorarlberg is situated in the western most region, or federal state as they are known, in Austria. It has borders with three other European countries that include Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The capital city here is Bregenz, with both Dornbirn and Feldkirch being larger in terms of population. There are two main rivers in this federal state the first is the ILL which eventually runs into the Rhine, it also has a number of lakes such as Lake Constance are Lüner Lake as well as some notable valleys that include Montafon and Walgau. The mountain ranges in this area are vast as well and the major ones are the Silvretta, the Rätikon, the Verwall and the Arlberg.

The average temperatures from November through to March are between -5 and 8 degrees usually with plenty of snow especially in the mountains themselves. The short summer which runs from June to September, has high temperature ranges from 19 to 23 degrees and lows from 9 to 12 degrees for the same months. The area has a number of very good and world famous skiing locations that include Montafon, Bregenzer Wald as well as some first class ski resorts.

The area has just under 2,000 ski instructors as well as heated chair lifts and has an excellent history in winter sports that dates back to the early 1900’s. The winter sports season tend to run from mid to late November though to April. Zurs was the first ski course to be opened to the public back in 1906 and they haven’t stopped there.

Some of the most highly rated ski resorts include Silvretta Montafon – Nova, Lech - Zürs am Arlberg, Damüls and Warth – Schröcken. There are many other resorts as well all of which are rated at 3 ½ stars or more. When you are not skiing there are other things to do in the region such as the Adlerwarte Eagle Observatory in Lochau, the Vorarlberger Landesmuseum in Bregnez, Meersburg Castle in Meesrberg, Martinsturm (Tower Of St.

Martin) in Bregnez and the Bregenzerwald Cheese Road in Bregnez. Accommodation in the region includes the two star Pension Zum Löwen in Dombim and Alpengasthof Hörnlepass inRiezlern which is in a stunning mountain setting. Three stars has the Hotel Herzog Friedrich in Bludenz, 4-Länder-Hotel Deutschmann in Bregnez and the Vitalhotel Quellengarten in Lingenau which is set in the Bregnez Forest.

For a four star hotel there is the Four Points by Sheraton Panoramahaus in Dombim, Schlosshotel Dörflinger in Bludenz and the Hotel Schwärzler in Bregnez. The five star hotels in this region include the Hotel Gasthof Post in Lech which is a prestigious Alpine resort, Travel Charme Ifen Hotel in Hirschegg and Thurnher's Alpenhof in Zurs which is surrounded by mountains.
