Wisconsin Hotels United States

Wisconsin Wisconsin is a state in the United States of America, situated in north central United States, and is a Midwestern State with an area of some 169K sq km Wisconsin shares borders with Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Upper Michigan to the northeast and Lake Superior to the north. The states’s boundaries include the Mississippi River and St Croix River in the west, and the Menominee River in the north east. Wisconsin is also the northernmost state that does not share a border with Canada. Wisconsin’s state capital is Madison though the largest city is Milwaukee. Situated between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River Wisconsin has a wide range of terrain, though 46% of the state is covered by forest.

The state consists of 5 regions: the Lake Superior Lowland in a belt along Lake superior to the north, then just to the south of this, the Northern Highland has huge mixed hardwood and conifer forests including Chequamegon-Nicole National Forest, as well as thousands of glacial lakes. The Central Plain in the middle of the state has some unique sandstone formations like the Dells of Wisconsin River, as well as rich farmland. The Eastern Ridges and lowlands region in the southeast is where many of Wisconsin’s largest cities are found – and these ridges include the Niagara escarpment that stretches from New York State.

The fifth region, the Western Uplands, is that of a rugged landscape mixed with forest and farmlands. The 5 largest cities of Wisconsin are Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha and Racine.
